Part of the decoration in St Andrew's Church, Eastney. The church was converted to housing in the 1990s and this and most other immovable decorations were left in place and covered over. It is assumed that this plaque still exist behind internal walling.
Sacred to the perfect memory of Maurice Desmond Quill, Captain Royal Marine Artillery, who, having passed unscathed through nearly four years on active service during the Great War, died June 17th 1918 of injuries following a fall from his horse on parade at Eastney Barracks. Aged 22 years. A most beloved son and brother who was the very light of our eyes.
