Specially promoted Lieutenant Colonel for distinguished service 25th Oct 1917; awarded CB Military Division 3rd June 1918; Four times mentioned in despatches, twice wounded, This memorial was erected by his comrades of all ranks in the Royal Marines Artillery and by the officers and men of the Divisions of the Army with which he served in France and Belgium.
