Crinoline Church Memorial Sundial Circa 1875 United Kingdom Teapot Row, Eastney, residents garden Originally situated in the centre of the plot on which the RMA Church was situated from 1867-1912. It was moved to the residents' gardens when the area was developed for housing in the 1970s. Recent research (The Crinoline Church, RMHS SP44, 2016) has revealed that the story linking the Church to the Crimea is false. This sundial marks the site of the old "Crinoline" church which was built as a hospital for the Crimea. After being brought to England it was puchased by the Admiralty, erected at Eastney and accomodated 800. In 1905 the church of St Andrew's took its place.
